RADO TRUE DESIGNERS’ COLLECTION LAUNCHED IN VIENNA

Rado was in Vienna for the European launch of its exclusive True designers’ collection.

The design-driven festivities began on the opening evening of Vienna Design Week with the award ceremony for the Rado Star Prize Austria 2017. Austrian fashion designer Flora Miranda was named the winner of Rado Star Prize Austria 2017 for her avant-garde dress that questions the permanence of time and materials. For her achievement she was presented with a Rado True Thinline in plasma high-tech ceramic by Rado CEO Matthias Breschan.

“Design, innovation and technologies are at the centre of the iconic products created by our brand,” said Breschan. “We also express our dedication to design by running international Rado Star Prize competitions, which promote upcoming designers such as Flora Miranda here in Vienna. I am also pleased to be unveiling the True designers’ collection here – six interpretations of the Rado True created in collaboration with six leading international designers.”

The True designers’ series was unveiled following a round table discussion with three of the designers who made the collection possible: Augustin Scott de Martinville of Big-Game, co-designer of the True Phospho; Rainer Mutsch, co-designer of the True Stratum; and Oskar Zieta, co-designer of the True Face.

These creative limited edition timepieces will be on display at the Vienna Design Week festival headquarters until 8 October 2017. An extended exhibition by the Rado Star Prize Austria winner will also be on display at the Rado boutique at Kärntnerstraße 18 during this time.
